An MOA was signed between the Ministry of Education (MOE) and Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College (CINEC) on the 30th August 2013 which was renewed on the 5th October 2016 for another period of three(03) years
The Colombo International Nautical and Engineering College popularly known as CINEC Campus, is the largest Non-Governmental institute of higher education as well as the largest Maritime Educational Training Facility approved by the Directorate of Merchant shipping in Sri Lanka.
Established in 1990, CINEC Campus is located in the picturesque suburbs of Malabe with branches in Colombo, Jaffna and Trincomalee. Over the past two and a half decades, CINEC has established itself as the most prestigious option for those who desire a career in the fields of maritime, Engineering, Technology, Logistics, Management and IT, by providing world class excellence in education and training. CINEC caters to over 15,000 students annually, who follow a range of over 175 educational and training programs.
The institution internationally recognized for its educational excellence, conducts courses from Certificate level to Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees. It is affiliated with Foreign Universities in Australia, UK,USA, China and Russia giving the opportunity for Sri Lankan and foreign students to excel in higher education.
Being certified for four internationally recognized quality management systems, namely ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Systems standard, ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management Systems standard, OHSAS 18001:2007 Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems standard, DNV certification for Maritime Academies No. 3.401.
CINEC is the only educational organization in Sri Lanka to be awarded with Sri Lanka National Quality Award 4 times running, 1999, 2004 , 2009 and 2014. In 2010 CINEC was awarded the International Asia Pacific Quality Award and in 2012, Global Performance Excellence Award for a world class educational organization. The quality and standards of CINEC was further recognized with the granting of degree awarding status to CINEC by the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka, a status which is held only by the Government Universities.

Under the helm of Captain Ajith Peiris, President of CINEC, a strong management team steered by Captain Peshala Medagama is currently powering Seychelles Maritime Academy and Fiji Maritime Academy in Fiji to improve the quality of training standards in the Seychelles and Pacific Region.
