1.1       Scope

This course covers the mandatory minimum basic safety training requirements as set out        in Regulation VI/1 Section A-VI/1 Para 2.1.1.2 & 2.2, Table A-VI/1-2 of the STCW 1978 as amended.

 

 

1.2       Learning Objective

On successful completion of this course, participants will acquire the necessary knowledge, understanding and proficiency required to;                         

 

  • Minimize the risk of fire on board
  • Maintain a state of readiness
  • Respond to emergency situations involving fire
  • Fight and extinguish fires using the means available on board

 

1.3       purpose

The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge, understanding and proficiency to perform their relevant duties with regard to Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting on the ship.

 

1.4       COURSE Duration

            Total Duration = 15 hrs. 

 

1.5       Entry Standards / Learner staTUS

          The course is open to:

  • Persons who are aged not less than sixteen (16) years old on the date of commencement of the course.
  • Candidates should have completed Secondary 5 level of Education

       Or

  • Persons who have completed an approved training programme as a Cadet or Rating.

 

Participants shall be medically fit and should undergo a medical checkup by a SMSA approved medical practitioner and submit a medical report accordingly.
