1.1 Scope
This course covers the mandatory minimum basic safety training requirements for all seafarers on safety and Survival, as set out by the Seychelles Maritime Safety Authority.
1.2 Learning Objective
On successful completion of this course, participants will acquire the necessary knowledge, understanding and competence to be able to,
- Survive at sea in the event of ship abandonment.
- Take immediate action upon encountering an accident or other medical emergency.
- Minimize the risk of fire and maintain a state of readiness to emergency situations involving fire. Fight and extinguish fires.
- Comply with emergency procedures, take precautions to prevent pollution of the marine environment, observe safe working practices, contribute to effective communications on board ship, contribute to effective human relationships on board ship, understand and take necessary action to control fatigue.
1.3 purpose
The purpose of this course is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge, understanding and competence to perform their relevant duties on the ship.

Total Duration = 12 hrs.
1.5 Entry Standards / learner Status
This course is open for: Candidate holding existing NON-STCW basic training certificate
Participants shall be medically fit and should undergo a medical checkup by a SMSA approved medical practitioner and submit a medical report accordingly.
